Ardy is 20 years old and works as an Apprentice Network Engineer at BT Group. One of the world’s leading communications services companies, it is the parent company for BT, EE, Plusnet & Openreach.

    What does your job involve?

    The team I work in is involved in testing and development of customer hubs. We ensure that all new products and developments fall in line within BT’s personal standards and can integrate seamlessly into the Openreach network.

    Being ahead of the curve and looking at future tech now.

    Understanding how next generation products are made.

    Understanding and developing my knowledge in STEM subjects and their applications in telecommunications.

    Family saw a BT stand at a careers’ fair.

    What qualifications do you need?

    A-levels equivalent to BBC, preferably related to computer science or IT but a desire to learn is priority number one.

  • What training has your company provided?
    What training has your company provided?

    As a Level 6 apprenticeship, a Bachelor’s degree in Digital and Technology Solutions.

    What would you say to anyone considering the sector?

    Have a passion and a desire to learn. No matter your background you can get into the tech space. 

    It is a sector that keeps on advancing and you too can keep developing alongside it.
