UKTIN is the innovation network for the UK telecoms sector, bringing together industry, academia, and government stakeholders to catalyse telecoms' R&D investment, cooperation, and commercialisation.

Formed in 2022, it is delivered by a consortium of four partners—Digital Catapult, Cambridge Wireless, University of Bristol, and WM5G—who draw on their distinct strengths in a collaborative approach. Event Manager - Cambridge Wireless

The Opportunity

Cambridge Wireless is the leading international community for companies involved in the research, development and application of wireless and mobile, internet, semiconductor and technologies transforming the world and society. With a broad and active community of organisations ranging from major network operators and device manufacturers to innovative start-ups and universities, CW stimulates debate and collaboration, harnesses and shares knowledge, and helps to build connections between academia and industry.

UKTIN Background

CW is a member of the consortium delivering UKTIN (UK Telecoms Innovation Network), a new body dedicated to boosting creativity in the country’s telecoms supply chain. UKTIN, funded by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), will act as an information and ideas hub for industry and academics looking to access funding or R&D testing facilities and opportunities to collaborate on developing new mobile and broadband technology.

More specifically, CW is leading UKTIN’s marketing and ecosystem capability, including the delivery of a schedule of public-facing events for audiences including representation from industry, government and academia.

Lead Mobile Systems Architect (Lead 5G Technologist) - REASON

OVERVIEW

The Lead Mobile Systems Architect role at Digital Catapult is positioned within our established 5G Technical Team. We have two vacancies across our two leading telecom programmes outlined below:

REASON (Realising Enabling Architectures and Solutions for Open Networks)

The University of Bristol and partners including Digital Catapult, Ericsson, Samsung and Nokia have been granted nearly £12 million from the Department for Science and Technology, to develop and industrialise technologies and solutions for future 6G mobile networks.

REASON will develop a roadmap for open 6G networks, which will set the framework for new developments across the entire technology stack. The project will provide novel solutions to effectively integrate multi-technology access networks and to advance their performance in line with the emerging 6G KPIs. More about REASON here.

SONIC (SmartRAN Open Network Interoperability Centre) Labs

SONIC (SmartRAN Open Network Interoperability Centre) Labs is a commercially-neutral, collaborative, environment for testing interoperability and integration of open, disaggregated and software-centric network solutions and multi-vendor architectures. More about SONIC Labs here.

Your systems architect expertise will be utilised as you lead a software engineer/developer team and work with our Senior Academics at Smart Internet Labs to create and deliver a brand-new state-of-the-art database and its associated user interfaces, APIs and query tools for a reference UK telecoms R&D capabilities database.
