Currently my job consists of testing customer routes prior to the final installation of the customers service, acting as the last line of defence to rectify any issues prior to install day. I also support the install teams if there are outages or issues with their packs. Patching customers in at the data centre is also a daily role.
I enjoy working alongside good technicians, learning new techniques and teaching others by passing on the knowledge and watching them grow.
I found it through an apprenticeship scheme and worked my way up through that.
At the time I did not need any qualifications as the company believe in helping young people without experience get on to the job market. You just need a good attitude towards the job.
We get a level three apprenticeship qualification alongside different health and safety or job-related qualifications.
Find a mentor in the industry and learn as much as you can. Build connections not just in your company but outside, and keep building.
