Nikki Lamboura - Young Ambassador

Nikki is 29 years old and works as a Project manager for Nokia. Nokia's goal is to lead the technology and telecommunications industry by innovating and providing cutting-edge solutions that drive digital transformation and connectivity worldwide.

  • What does your job involve and who does it help?
    What does your job involve and who does it help?

    I am an apprentice in Project Management within the Enterprise division, gaining hands-on experience through rotations across various sectors of Network Infrastructure within Nokia. Currently, I am leading a project to upgrade the communications systems of a major city Metro Network, overseeing its lifecycle and ensuring my team meets the customer's goals. As a global organisation we work with many B2B clients helping connect the world by improving the Network Infrastructure of UK&I by providing hardware, software and engineering services.

    What 3 things do you enjoy most about the job?

    The apprenticeship enabled my transition from Hospitality to Tech. In the ever-evolving telecommunications industry, I’m constantly challenged to learn and adapt. I value collaborating with a global team, all working towards a shared goal. Most importantly, I take pride in being a part of creating essential systems that power the world’s communication systems.

    How did you hear about the job?

    Transitioning into technology was challenging without experience, but I discovered apprenticeships as a pathway. I found the opportunity on LinkedIn, which allowed me to gain valuable skills and industry entry.

    What qualifications do you need?

    To enter, a minimum of 48 UCAS points is needed, along with the right attitude and passion for excelling in the industry. This combination of qualifications and drive is crucial for success within Nokia.

    What training does the company provide?

    Nokia provides a task manager for initial shadowing, gradually transitioning to project ownership. Additionally, a supportive line manager offers weekly development sessions, and industry mentors with 20+ years of experience guide your growth.

    What would you say to anyone looking to join the sector?

    You can join the industry with little experience if you're passionate about technology, eager to learn daily, and willing to push beyond your comfort zone to achieve success.
