Here he shares the story of his career so far, in his own words.
My job role involves being responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of our office-based equipment (Both Hardware and Software), which involves dealing with office PCs and laptops, maintaining physical and wireless network servers, routers, switches, cables, and other technical equipment we may use.
Likewise, as a Junior System Administrator, my job role consists of helping and assisting the wider non-technical team with any technical queries and questions. I also assist the technical team with network management, monitoring, and our datacentre work, ensuring seamless data transmission and efficient network performance, which are essential for the company to function and communicate.
What I enjoy most about my role is the fact that I have the chance to play with and study various equipment (Hardware & Software). Secondly, the opportunity for learning, development and support from colleagues. Lastly working as part of a team, where I feel valued and work towards a goal for example making history and achieving milestones for the company.
I heard about this job through a recruitment post online. After I graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a BSc (Hons) in Computer Networks, I was appointed to this role after a successful interview process.
My qualifications and educational history comprise of working in Retail, Hospitality, Healthcare, BTEC Diploma in IT and BSc (Hons) in Computer Networks.
My company provides lots of opportunities; in house training, either one to one coaching or group training sessions. They also provide us, with technical knowledge through online courses like Udemy and SIP school Training. We also have access to apprenticeship schemes.
Be confident in yourself and do not give up, while Job hunting. Most importantly always have an open mind; as on the job you are likely to always learn something new from every experience and keeping up with the latest network technologies, dealing with various equipment’s, individuals and problem-solving scenarios.
