Director of Penetration Testing at CGI IT UK

Darwin serves as Director of Consulting Expert for Penetration Testing within CGI UK Cyber Security sector. Darwin also chairs the techUK Telecoms Resilience and Security Working Group as well as being a member of the UK5G Security Working Group. Both of these working groups aim to encourage and facilitate best practice security approaches, support 5G security research, showcase good 5G security methods and co-ordinate learning on security topics between industry and government.

Since 2011, Darwin has been working in cyber security, focusing on penetration testing. From 2016, Darwin has led the CGI UK penetration testing team, managing various aspects of a highly specialised team including technical deliverables, client management, technical leadership and direction.

During this time, Darwin has also led and performed high-value penetration tests and red team engagements – from the scoping and proposal phase, to delivery, client de-brief and executive presentation. One of these projects was a high profile and comprehensive review of 5G security for a major UK network operator. The engagement covered all aspects of mobile telephony – from edge to core, from signalling plane and media plane to operational network. Including 5G specific technology such as Software Defined Networking, Network Function Virtualisation, Evolved Packet Core and IP Multimedia Subsystem.

Before moving into cyber security, Darwin oversaw all technical aspects of a telecommunications company, working alongside various notable technology companies, financial institutions, international telecommunications partners and all the major UK network providers.
