George Negrescu

George is a senior Broadband Architect that led the design for Geo Networks’ Welsh Broadband Plan, as well as writing the technical requirements for DCMS’s BDUK contract. As part of a wider KPMG team, he assessed technology components presented by framework bidders and assured BDUK delivery.

George is a senior Broadband Architect that led the design for Geo Networks’ Welsh Broadband Plan, as well as writing the technical requirements for DCMS’s BDUK contract. As part of a wider KPMG team, he assessed technology components presented by framework bidders and assured BDUK delivery. 

He was also part of the early leadership teams in start-ups such as City Fibre and Geo Networks where George build and developed commercial models and the early product sets in collaboration with the founders George works with Digital First as a specialist programme delivery manager, technical advisor and consultant on LFFN and 5G bids supporting business case development and technical project assurance.

With a background in the Telecom industry design and fibre optics, he has also established his company George Black Consult as a Telecom construction company, taking Principal Contractor roles alongside the big names of UK’s fibre industry (e.g. City Fibre, Community Fibre, Virgin Media, BT). Since 2017, GBC has built over 12,000 FTTP connections in various environments ranging from rural Scotland to the urban forests of London. This hands-on approach cemented a practical understanding of Construction Law, Contracts and Delivery Management. 

Passionate about delivering complex cross technology projects (IoT, 5G, OSS/BSS, etc), George has a unique advantage in his ability to combine project delivery with technology skills.

George is also a speaker in public events such as the World Broadband Forum and holds a Computer Science degree and an MBA from Sheffield University.
