Mitch Turnbull

Mitch Turnbull is an award-winning media producer, director, writer and consultant with over twenty years experience providing film, TV, digital content to broadcasters, studios and organisations around the world. Since 2014, Mitch has also consulted on and created immersive media content including virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR) and spatial computing for clients including BBC Studios, Oculus, Magic Leap, RYOT, Verizon, Huffington Post and the UN as well as creating immersive content through her own company Bramble Media. Over the last twenty years she has made films, live shows and media content for a variety of broadcasters, studios and organisations including BBC Studios, Disneynature, Smithsonian Channel, National Geographic Channel, PBS, Discovery Channel, NHK, Channel 4, Channel 5, NHK, RYOT, Huffington Post, Oculus, the UN and The Royal Foundation (The Duke of Cambridge). She's directed actors and presenters including Stephen Fry, Steve Backshall, Naomi Wilkinson, Mike Dilger and Olympian, Alex Gregory.

Mitch has also developed, produced and directed 360°/VR/AR/MR experiences for BBC Earth (Cat Flight, Oogie, Planet Earth II-Recording Hans Zimmer Soundtrack, Micro Kingdoms - Senses (Magic Leap)), RYOT (Visit Abu Dhabi) and the UN (Growing A World Wonder).

As well as working on freelance contracts, Mitch explores media business opportunities through her own company, Bramble Media Ltd. She's currently developing Phase 2 of EarthSongs - a mixed reality, spatial computing experience exploring and celebrating wild soundscapes. The prototype (Phase 1) was produced in 2019 and has been selected to showcase at a number of high profile international events including Climate Week NYC 2019, Simple Things Music Festival 2019, EarthX Film Festival 2020 and Sundance Film Festival 2020.

Outside of production, Mitch is on the steering board of Screen Cornwall, she's acted as BAFTA VR Advisory Associate, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of The Arts, has contributed to a number of industry papers including Immerse UK's 'Creative Tools and Workflows For Immersive Content Creation' and is an Industry Immersion Fellow with the South West Creative Technology Network.
