Nick Reed

Professor Nick Reed is the founder of Reed Mobility having led research at TRL (the UKs Transport Research Laboratory) and been Head of Mobility R&D at Bosch, the worlds largest automotive supplier. Nick holds a visiting professorship at the University of Surrey 5G Innovation Centre and works across the domains of CAV, urban mobility, transport data, active travel and human factors. He is recognised as being a leader in future mobility and has been instrumental in CAV projects totalling more than £50m.

Professor Nick Reed has spent more than fifteen years at the sharp end of transportation research. Widely published in the fields of psychology, human factors, road safety and connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) and having presented on such topics at conferences worldwide, Nick is recognised as being a leader in future mobility and has been instrumental in CAV projects totalling more than £50m.

A chartered scientist and psychologist (MA, University of Cambridge; DPhil., University of Oxford), Nick brings a fresh perspective and robust approach to transport projects, working dynamically at the intersection between psychology, technology, society and the environment. He is currently serving as an international expert on a panel convened by the European Commission to determine the best approach for CAV ethics.

Equally comfortable operating across the public, private and academic sectors, Nick is inventive, collaborative, rigorous and thoughtful, delivering innovative research, development, guidance, evaluation and assessment to the highest standard in the transport sector.

Having led research and innovation as Academy Director at TRL, the UK’s leading research centre for transportation, been Head of Mobility R&D for the world’s largest automotive supplier, Bosch, and retaining a visiting professorship at the University of Surrey 5G Innovation Centre, Nick has now founded Reed Mobility to provide expert independent consultancy on future mobility to all relevant sectors.
