Birmingham Tech Week is the UK’s largest regional tech festival and conference with over 7,500 people attending. Events will be taking place across the entire West Midlands covering a variety of important and innovative topics.

The telecom industry’s end-of-year wrap-up returns to London on Thursday 5 December, for a day of boisterous discussion and debate on the big issues and topics that are shaping the future of telecoms.

BT has revealed a notable loss of broadband customers to rivals, as it navigates a "competitive" market.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced Fastnet, a new transatlantic subsea fibre-optic cable system linking Maryland, USA, and County Cork, Ireland.

Fastnet, which is expected to be operational in 2028, has been designed to improve network resilience by adding a new, independent data route across the Atlantic.

TalkTalk has put the wheels in motion to shed another 100 staff as part of its ongoing endeavour to turn its business around.

CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full fibre platform, announced its rate of customer connections is close to doubling quarter-on-quarter, with 108,000 customers connected in Q3 2025 (Q2 2025: 58,000), a new record for the company.

• UK fibre broadband altnet Community Fibre has been focusing more on building its customer base and less on network expansion for the past year or so
• That focus appears to be paying off, with its customer base growing by 33% over the past 12 months
