Ericsson and Nokia are reportedly expanding their in-house chip design capabilities to better compete in the 5G era.

Nokia is working with NASA to deploy an 4G/LTE network on the Moon in order to demonstrate how advanced cellular technologies can be used for critical communications in future planetary exploration. Planned for 2024, the uncrewed, robotic mission will help pave the way to a sustainable human presence on the lunar surface.
