Ericsson and Nokia are reportedly expanding their in-house chip design capabilities to better compete in the 5G era.

Nokia is working with NASA to deploy an 4G/LTE network on the Moon in order to demonstrate how advanced cellular technologies can be used for critical communications in future planetary exploration.
