GSMA launches its 5G Connectivity Index

The mobile industry association has launched a new interactive index to track the rollout of 5G.

The GSMA says that although 5G connections surpassed 1.5 billion at the end of 2023, 5G has not yet realised its full potential. In this light, GSMA Intelligence has launched a new Index which provides a comprehensive assessment of 5G in 39 markets.

Cloud services spending leaps by 21% to $76.5bn in Q1

The appetite for cloud infrastructure services remains unsated, it seems, with Synergy Research Group reporting that the global sector was worth a staggering $76.5bn during the first quarter of this year, up by 21% (or $13.5bn) compared with the same period a year earlier. Based on that figure, the market is now worth more than $300bn per year. 

BT Group powers up first EV charger transformed from a green cabinet

East Lothian, Scotland – BT Group has installed its first EV charge point powered from a street cabinet, marking the first phase of trials which could lead to the wider upgrade of cabinet units across the UK. The charger, which is powered by a BT Group owned cabinet traditionally used to store broadband and phone cabling, forms part of a nationwide pilot by the business’ start-up incubation hub Etc., designed to address the shortfall in public EV charging infrastructure.

Gigabit infrastructure act: Council gives final green light to faster deployment of high-speed networks in the EU
