Aston University Engineering Academy and Sixth Form will host UKTIN to deliver a career insight talk on careers in Tech, Telecoms and Engineering on Thursday, 4th July 2024 from 1:30pm - 3:30pm

 The event brings together local and national businesses and providers of higher education,apprenticeships and higher education for students in years 10 and 12 to learn aboutopportunities and pathways. We will also invite students from Aston Manor sixth form.

BT Group has announced a revision to its timetable for moving all customers – consumers and businesses – off the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and onto digital landlines. The move follows the introduction of a series of improvements to the programme to better protect vulnerable customers and those with additional needs, including telecare users.

Worldwide cloud infrastructure services expenditure grew by 21% year-on-year in Q1 2024 to reach US$79.8 billion, an increase of US$13.4 billion. The top three cloud providers - AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud - collectively grew by 24%, accounting for 66% of total spending. All three hyperscalers experienced a growth rate surge, as enterprise cloud spending accelerated.

This week, AT&T and AST SpaceMobile have signed a definitive commercial deal to work together in bringing direct-to-mobile satellite communication to AT&T customers.

The agreement, which builds on a previous Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2018, extends until 2030

As part of the MoU, AT&T will invest $500,000 into the satellite firm, with AT&T’s Head of Network, Chris Sambar, taking a seat on AST’s board of directors.

The deal was first confirmed last October 

This week, Zegona’s acquisition of Vodafone Spain has received approval from Spanish regulators. 

The Spanish government’s Council of Ministers has approved the deal “in respect of foreign direct investment into Spain,” said UK-based Zegona in a press release this morning.
