This workshop is designed to provide details on how potential users from a wide range of different sectors can engage with the state-of-the-art JOINER experimental connectivity platform and SONIC Labs (SmartRAN Open Network Interoperability Centre).
JOINER is an open experimental connectivity platform offering robust capabilities in hybrid cloud, AI-ready edge computing, spectrum experimentation, non-terrestrial networks (NTN) emulators and secure networking. JOINER also brings together cutting-edge capabilities from 14 world-leading universities and R&I labs for the first time.
These capabilities support experimental research, innovation, exploitation, product development and technology adoption. These are unique to the UK and offer significant value to a broad range of sectors that rely on future network connectivity, as well as diverse technologies and applications.
The workshop will present JOINER and SONIC Labs engagement models and provide a practical step-by-step guide on how to express an interest in potentially using the facilities and present the benefits of using JOINER and SONIC for research, innovation and adoption. We will hear from organisations who have already engaged with JOINER or SONIC on how they used and benefited.
Both facilities are open to all and serve academia, industry, and government. We support collaboration with start-ups, spin-outs, SMEs, major corporations, and policymakers alike.
This event will be of benefit for those with no knowledge of JOINER / SONIC as well as those who attended the JOINER launch event or the UKTIN JOINER and SONIC labs workshop in July. This workshop will provide clarity on the benefits of the JOINER platform itself, the facilities that will also be accessible via its 14 nodes and opportunity to hear from actual users.
The workshop will take place in Bristol, headquarters of the JOINER platform and host to a number of the connected testbed facilities. The location is a 2-minute walk from Bristol Temple Meads train station’s main entrance and is easily accessible.
The agenda will include:
- Updates on JOINER & SONIC Labs
- How to access JOINER & SONIC Labs – a practical step by step guide with examples
- Panel Discussion
- JOINER and SONIC Labs Use and Partnership Discussion
- Future Plans and Closing Remarks
- Demos and Networking
- Lunch and refreshments
