UKTIN is launching a three-day IP and Standards Seminar series, designed to upskill SMEs in the strategy and practice of navigating the standards bodies and identifying protectable and valuable Intellectual Property.

Standards are an essential part of the telecoms ecosystem but understanding how the various bodies operate and knowing how to crystallise the economic value of your innovations in the context of standards can be a challenge. UKTIN is here to help. Our new seminar series, designed by industry experts will cover:
Day One - A comprehensive introduction to Intellectual Property (IP) protection within the context of technology companies, including an individual 60 minutes 121 session to develop your own individual IP strategy. Topics discussed will include: how to defend against patent trolls, the differences between essential and commercial IP, the importance of FRAND and more.
Day Two - Through a series of exercises and activities designed to support the learning process, attendees will analyse case studies related to Standardisation in the telecoms sector – both failures and success stories. Topics discussed will include: defining standards, the telecommunication standards ecosystem, the production of telecoms standards, standardisation and Innovation in the telecoms industry.
Day Three - Topics discussed on this final standards-focused day will include: telecoms standards and business strategy, managing intellectual property rights, the economic benefits of telecommunication standards.
The series comprises of three days – one on IP and two on standards . Attendees are recommended to attend all three days but can choose to attend just the one-day IP training or the two-day standards training.
