The telecoms sector has historically been male-dominated, particularly in senior technology-based positions. Last year, Ofcom and the UK’s largest telecoms companies looked to change that and came together to sign a pledge in June 2023, committing to help more women build technology careers across the telecoms sector.
Having a talented, diverse workforce to meet the technological demands of an increasingly digital world is crucial to the future success of the telecoms sector.
The pledge signatories have committed to:
- Increasing the senior representation of women in technology-based roles in the telecoms sector.
- Investing our efforts in attracting and retaining women in our organisations, creating inclusive environments for
- them to excel at be at their best.
- Sharing best practice and to showcase, to the outside world, our talented women in the technology sector.
- Publish information on the impact our initiatives have made to inspire others in the sector.

To mark the first anniversary of our pledge, we are holding this event, to celebrate the combined efforts, reflect on the progress made and look ahead to the future, exploring ways to further advance our goals. This event will feature discussions with CEOs and senior women from the organisations who have signed our pledge.
