Bridge Alliance’s telco API initiative gets heavy Asian backing

AMD acquires ZT Systems in deal to enhance data centre AI capabilities

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) has announced a landmark agreement to acquire ZT Systems, a provider of AI and compute infrastructure for hyperscalers, in a deal valued at £4.9 billion.

The acquisition will bolster AMD’s capabilities in data centre AI systems, and position the company to more effectively compete in the expanding market for AI accelerators.

Commission approves €5 billion German State aid measure to support ESMC in setting up a new semiconductor manufacturing facility

The European Commission has approved, under EU State aid rules, a €5 billion German measure to support European Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (‘ESMC') in the construction and operation of a microchip manufacturing plant in Dresden. ESMC is a joint venture between Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (‘TSMC'), Bosch, Infineon, and NXP.

£280k fund for 5G projects now open

A new funding competition is supporting local businesses and industries in the Belfast region to harness the power of 5G and digital technologies to deliver enhanced operations and solutions.

Organisations can apply for grants of between £50,000 and £100,000 for innovative projects that make use of 5G, and other types of advanced wireless connectivity, to deliver economic, social, and environmental impacts.

CityFibre partners with Sky to expand network reach

CityFibre has announced a long-term partnership with Sky to expand its network reach.

As a result, Sky’s Full Fibre Broadband is expected to launch on CityFibre’s network starting next year.

However, over time, this will extend to more than 1.3 million homes in hard-to-reach areas, supported by CityFibre’s involvement in theGovernment’s Project Gigabit Programme.
