US telecoms software vendor Mavenir has come to a recapitalization arrangement with its main investor, Siris, and is taking a step back from its foray into Open RAN.

Three UK has successfully completed the first stage of a landmark trial – the UK’s first deployment of Open RAN technology in a dense urban environment. The trial was designed to test the viability of deploying Open RAN in a complex city setting.

On 24–25 April 2025, the 3GPP - O-RAN ALLIANCE joint workshop brought together experts from across the telecom ecosystem at ETSI Headquarters for a focused exchange on coordination for 6G.

The trial, part of the government-backed 5G MoDE (Mobile O-RAN for Highly Dense Environments) project, was delivered by VMO2 and Mavenir and took place during the England vs Italy Six Nations match.
