UK launches mobile market review

The UK government wants full standalone 5G coverage by 2030 and opened a call for input on what it can do to help bring that about.

In the introduction to the review (in the context of 5G rollout): “the government acknowledges that rapid technological change in addition to wider economic pressures has meant industry has faced a challenging investment environment over recent years.” Refreshingly, the government wants to know how it can help.

It’s interested in ‘policy levers that could unlock further investment in mobile networks’ and ‘how government ensure the regulatory framework continues to support the government’s objectives in an evolving market.’
