Towerco Cellnex has delivered the first consolidated 4G and 5G mast for VodafoneThree, marking the next phase of the merged mobile operator's network integration.
The site, located in Burnley, Lancashire, has gone live a whole five months ahead of schedule – an achievement in and of itself.
"Cellnex's delivery of this first site ahead of schedule is fantastic news. VodafoneThree is investing in critical digital infrastructure to reach 99% population coverage with 5G standalone (SA) by 2030 and 99.96% by 2034, laying the foundation for a more connected, innovative, and future-ready Britain," said Andrea Donà, chief network officer at VodafoneThree.
So far, the integration of Vodafone and Three's networks has been led by the deployment of a multi-operator core network (MOCN), which enables customers to connect to whichever of the two networks has the better signal.
