The Leo Ultra antenna promises download speeds from satellites of up to 1 Gbps.
Earlier this month, Amazon understandably rebranded its slow-burning LEO satellite operation previously known as Project Kuiper to Leo. The rebrand seems designed to signify that the project’s incubation phase was finally at an end and it’s ready to start operating on a commercial basis.
The unveiling of the Leo Ultra antenna is the next phase in that tentative evolution, in so much as the customer terminal has now begun its enterprise preview. Those prospective customers willing to take the plunge first will apparently enjoy download speeds of ‘up to’ 1 Gbps to through their full-duplex phased array Ultra connections with Leo satellites, and similarly caveated upload speeds of 400 Mbps. Full commercial rollout is expected sometime next year.
