According to a report by analyst firm Dell’Oro, worldwide RAN will grow by 1% CAGR over next five years.
The firm says after steep declines in 2023 and 2024 following the 5G peak, RAN market conditions are stabilising and, in the absence of any major growth catalysts, “the appetite for RAN is expected to remain muted over the near-term before 6G capex starts ramping.”
Dell’Oro's long-term position has not changed, in that RAN is not a growth market, putting it at 0% CAGR between 2000 and 2025. However the analyst notes that it can go through periods of higher and lower capital intensity ratios depending on operator investment cycles, the availability of new spectrum and technologies, and the demand for capacity.
