Numbers from Canalys claim that smartphone shipments into Europe (excluding Russia) declined by 2% in Q1 2025 to 32.4 million units, which the analyst says was largely caused by sluggish entry-level demand.

Samsung was in the lead as its shipments grew marginally to 12.2 million units for the quarter. A lot of the heavy lifting was done by the Galaxy S-series, which also contributed to the firm reaching its highest-ever quarterly average sales price (ASP) in Europe.

Apple finished second as iPhone shipments grew by 10% to 8 million units, while Xiaomi “delivered a resilient Q1 despite poor demand in its target segment”, clocking a shipment decline of 2% to 5.3 million units.

Motorola and Google were behind that, shipping 1.7 million and 0.9 million units respectively, and this marks Google’s first appearance on the quarterly top five ranking vendors' table, says Canalys.
