Ericsson has secured the highest ranking in the recently published Omdia Market Landscape RAN Vendors report for 2025. This recognition highlights Ericsson's leadership in both business performance and portfolio, underscoring its commitment to innovation and excellence in the industry.
The Omdia assessment covered 11 radio access network (RAN) vendors, categorizing them into three groups: leaders, major challengers, and upcoming vendors. They were evaluated based on two key dimensions: business performance and portfolio. Ericsson emerged as the top performer in both, solidifying its position as a market leader.
According to Omdia, Ericsson's leadership in business performance is reflected by its large and growing number of 5G customers, with a 36 percent market share outside of China in 2024. The research firm noted that Ericsson increased its number of 5G deals with communications service providers (CSPs) and gained market shares in 2024 compared to 2023.
Ericsson's portfolio strengths were highlighted across all categories, particularly in its radio portfolio, which leads the industry in terms of breadth, energy efficiency, flexibility, and innovation, especially with its Massive MIMO products.
The company's RAN Compute baseband portfolio also leads the market with its energy efficiency metrics and comprehensive support for all radio access technologies, from 2G to 5G. It offers a range of options, including dedicated solutions for outdoor deployments.
Additionally, Ericsson was recognized for its leading position in the Open RAN-ready portfolio with *eCPRI packet-based open fronthaul protocol support.

Per Narvinger, Ericsson Executive Vice President and Head of Business Area Networks, says: "Being recognized as the top vendor in both business performance and portfolio by Omdia shows our dedication to providing the best solutions for service providers. This recognition highlights our commitment to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction. We will continue to lead the industry with our wide range of high-performing, programmable network solutions.”
Rémy Pascal, Practice Leader, Mobile Infrastructure at Omdia, says: "Ericsson stands as the market leader in both business performance and portfolio dimensions. The company secured more 5G deals and expanded market share in 2024 versus 2023. Its portfolio excellence is demonstrated through flagship radio products such as the AIR3266 and AIR3265, and baseband products such as the RAN Processors 6672 and 6655. Additionally, Ericsson has strengthened its partner ecosystem, further solidifying its industry position."
