Samsung and Keysight gave a demonstration at CES which they say shows that mobile devices can maintain a live 5G connection while moving between satellites.
The firms announced what they describe as an “end-to-end live new radio non-terrestrial networks (NR-NTN) connection in band n252, as defined by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) under Release 19,” at the CES show in Las Vegas.
The demonstration included live satellite-to-satellite (SAT-to-SAT) mobility using commercial-grade modem silicon and cross-vendor interoperability, which they are pitching as an important milestone for the direct-to-cell satellite market.
