By Ian Smith, Head of UKTIN

As the UKTIN programme draws to a close, I’d like to use this opportunity to reflect with pride on the significant progress achieved and the lasting impact delivered across the UK telecoms ecosystem.

UKTIN was established to strengthen collaboration, accelerate innovation and enhance the resilience of the UK’s telecoms supply chain. The programme has brought together industry leaders, pioneering SMEs, academia and government to address shared challenges and unlock new opportunities. Through targeted engagement, insight generation and coordinated support, UKTIN has helped to create a more connected, informed and ambitious innovation community.

Over the lifetime of the programme, tangible benefits have been realised across multiple fronts. From fostering strategic partnerships and supporting cutting-edge R&D, to amplifying the voice of UK innovators at home and internationally. The knowledge, resources, networks and capabilities developed will continue to deliver value well beyond the programme’s formal conclusion.

While this chapter closes, the foundations laid by UKTIN leave a stronger, more diverse and globally competitive telecoms sector, well positioned to drive future growth, technological leadership and long-term resilience for the UK.

We had a final Advisory board last week and I'd like to thank all the members for their time, wisdom and support over the past few years. One comment from a member was asking how Government and the sector are going to fill the void that will be left by the closure of UKTIN. It’s a good question and one that at the time of writing does not have a clear answer. This is a work in progress and I hope to be able to share more in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, the UKTIN delivery partners continue to work in and support the telecoms ecosystem. You can stay in touch with them in the following ways:
